Hail Storm in Oglala July 27, 2018
This Friday night, the Oglala community was hit by a devastating hail storm. Within 20 min, all west-facing house and car windows were completely busted, siding and a few roofs blown off, and many crops and trees broken down. The American Red Cross set up local headquarters here at the RecCenter. There were no human casualties.
Thank God for our solid steel gym roof, and that at the time the hail storm hit, many of our teens were safely inside the Rec sanctuary for Friday Night Open Gym devotions. Unfortunately, all our staff housing as well as all Rec vehicles were severely damaged, and the mission team from Clinton Wesleyan was stranded in Oglala for quite a while.

Beautiful Fall 2015
Summer 2014 in South Dakota
God has blessed us with abundant moisture, and we see His beautiful promise come true in nature all around us: "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:10+11
Please continue to pray that this prophecy will also be fulfilled in the spiritual world in Oglala!

"Winterwonderland" Oglala Winter 2013/14
One tree doesn`t make a forest......but maybe NINE trees do?!? This, at least, is the number of trees that were planted behind the RecCenter by our dear friends from Denver. Larry, Wes, and Lawrenz together with Kelsey and some little helpers from Oglala spent the last hot summer day (which was actually the first day of fall 2013) digging holes, planting and watering the oaks, aspens, and elms. Meanwhile Jill and Marylou kept the Rec Team happy and well fed. All in all it was a very beautiful and blessed day!

Snow! Nov 26, 2012That's what we've been witing for (well, some of us, at least! :-) After the constant snowfall over night, everything is covered in a thick, sparkling white blanket this morning. You can almost feel the ground sigh... The much needed moisture sure is more than welcome. Thank you, God!

Indian Summer 2012
While we are still praying for rain and waiting for cooler temperatures, fall graces the prairee and the Black Hills with its full splendor. To those with open hearts, all this beauty is a loving reminder of the Creator`s faithfulness and care.
Prairie Fire south of Oglala Aug 31, 2012
After a very hot and dry summer and a couple smoky days, Friday night most of Oglala needed to be evacuated when the fires that had been coming up from Nebraska moved closer into the area. Thanks to God and the tireless effort of the many fire fighters, the fire could get contained by late Saturday; there were no casualties and it seems most of the houses could be saved. However, the fires left a trail of smoke and ashes, which hopefully will turn into a beautiful green spring next year!
